Moholy: An Education for the Senses

The exhibition aims to reignite interest in Hungarian-Amaerican artist, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, to introduce Chicagoans to his multidisciplinary process and to examine the relevance of modernism's life-improving message. The exhibition is part of Living Modern Chicago, a city-wide celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Bauhaus.

Lesley Guthrie, Janet Hill, Steve MacKley, Kevin McConkey and Lance Rutter will be speaking at the upcoming graphic design conference CONNECT. It is free and lunch will be provided.

STA members can attend for 1 or more sessions.

There will be a portfolio review table for interns and new hires.

A Woodstock Tribute!

Don't miss this great weekend August 14th–15th!

This summer music fans from McHenry County, the Chicago area and from throughout the Midwest will converge on Galt Airport to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Woodstock Festival, the world-famous and now historic music & peace festival that drew over 500,000 to Max Yasgur's farm, near Woodstock, New York in 1969

In all, nine tribute bands are scheduled to appear. They include tributes to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Grateful Dead, Santana, and there will be two Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tribute bands!

Jack Gernsheimer at Columbia College

Designing Logos book cover Jack Gensheimer received a BFA in Advertising Design from Syracuse University in 1968 and began his career at J. Walter Thompson in New York. He founded Partners Design with his twin brother Jeff in 1971 and continues to be actively involved in design and creative direction. In 1978, Jack worked in Oslo with internationally acclaimed designer Bruno Oldani.

As an artist, teacher, and writer through his long and prolific career, Hungarian-born György Kepes (1906–2001) worked to establish new connections between the communities of art, science, technology, and industry. By exploring these relationships, he became a pioneer in new media practices, declaring that traditional art forms could no longer adequately address the problems of the modern world.
